The Next Chapter

Seattle’s venerable Elliott Bay Book Company officially opened shop in the city’s Capitol Hill neighborhood Wednesday. The store, which moved from its beloved Pioneer Square location after 37 years due to financial woes, is reinventing itself in one of Seattle’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

The Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce is hosting a block party outside the shop this Thursday from 4-7 p.m. A short list of nearby restaurants will be selling good eats, local band Let’s Get Lost will be playing, and author Anchee Min will be reading in the store at 7:30.

It’s tough to think of a better way to spend an evening than browsing through Elliott Bay’s tall cedar bookshelves salvaged from the Pioneer Square store, then wandering outside for a slice of Via Tribunali pizza and a salted caramel ice cream cone from Molly Moon’s. See you there.
